Story
Crash is sleeping in his hammock, just outside his house in the sunny Wumpa Island. He soon has a vision projected into his marsupial brain. What first seems to be a dream is then revealed to be Aku Aku, communicating with Crash from far away, using telepathy. He pleads Crash to wake up, for Dr. Cortex has kidnapped him and taken him to Mount Wumpa. Crash wakes up a little woozy, but shortly sets out to rescue his old friend.

Crash eventually finds Aku Aku in a cage, along with several Tiki masks. Alongside them is Cortex himself, who tries to make a run for it as his minions are warped in. Crash shakes his bandicoot foot into their mutant butts and successfully frees Aku Aku. With his help, Crash learns how to control the mutants' minds and soon turns them against each others. Cortex decides not to hang out in that place any longer and runs off frustrated.

Crash and Aku Aku learn that Cortex is building a giant robot of destruction. They must stop the evil scientist from succeeding and disable the robot before it's too late. A robot this big cannot mean good news.

Characters: Crash Bandicoot/Coco Bandicoot/Aku Aku/Dr. Cortex/Nina Cortex/N. Gin

Generalities
The DS version of Crash of the Titans is majorly different from the console versions, but in turn, it's surprisingly faithful to the original Naughty Dog games. It almost feels like something they would have created a decade ago. Even the title screen is a nod to Crash 1, and you start and finish each level inside a stone temple (ala Crash 2). The only major differences are that you have fighting moves and can control the enemies.

Like in the main version, Crash is able to punch, kick and do combos to stun his foes. After they're stunned, he can use Aku Aku to Jack into their minds and control them, while riding on their backs. With this, you can use each enemy's unique power to your advantage, and this version makes a great use of the DS's capabilities. You can flick the screen to throw projectiles, blow into the console, etc. The enemies in this version are a lot more varied and numerous, and all of them are exclusive here. You can take control of practically everyone in this version, including small fodder enemies, which is a definite plus.

Other than fighting and Jacking, the game plays much like the original ones did. You have a fixed camera and run forward in preset paths. Except this time you have a big plethora of moves. Asides from jumping, punching and kicking, you can also grab onto ledges, shimmy, and even use Aku Aku as a slide-board. You can grind with him too, and since you will automatically lock onto rails, you won't fall off even when jumping from rail to rail.

The graphics are really pretty and detailed. Both the rich colourful scenery and the impressive character models make this one of the best-looking 3D games for the DS handheld. The music is of great quality as well, and like most things in this version, it is exclusive to the DS. The cutscenes are fully animated in 3D, and the best part comes with the voice actors- they used the real Crash actors to supply the voices for this game (albeit less of them, so some of the actors voice multiple characters here).

There is only one real set-back to this game, but it is significantly disappointing. You can't help but notice that the DS version, although surprisingly good, is just way too short. Much like Twinsanity.
