Story
In a temple floating in a vacuous region, two brothers meet up to discuss the fate of their planet, and which side should reign it. These are Aku Aku and Uka Uka, the witch doctor spirits. Uka Uka is all up for a reign of terror, but Aku Aku would never want it to happen. The two almost come to a fight, but Aku Aku reminds his rash brother that the Ancients wouldn't allow such a quarrel. It's then that they decide to hold an ultimate competition between good and evil. The chosen players - the witch doctors' allies.

As soon as the players are summoned to the temple, Aku Aku notices an unfair sight. While he has Crash and Coco on his side, Uka Uka has Cortex, Nitrus Brio, Tiny, Dingodile, Koala Kong and a newcomer named Rilla Roo. Aku Aku pledges to his brother's ego - if he's as confident in his players as he seems, he'll hand over two of them to the good side, making up for equal numbers. Uka Uka accepts that condition, and Tiny and Dingodile are switched into the good team. The competition starts.

Generalities
Crash Bash is a mini-game-based title, and the first Crash game not to be developed by Naughty Dog. The graphics are nowhere near as good as they used to be in the original trilogy, but they still stand strong for what is a PS1 game. The music is heavily based on the previous games, including remixes and remakes. The game is generally fun to play, but if you're playing it alone, it can get tedious and even frustrating after a while.

Players compete against each others, individually or in teams. The competitions are divided into 7 main genres (see below). Each genre has 4 variations, making up for a total of 28 mini-games (32 if you count boss fights). The rules vary greatly between mini-games, but they're all easy to pick up.

'Adventure' is the requisite story mode where you unlock new mini-games and challenges. You can play this mode alone or with a friend. Depending on which side you choose, the cutscenes and the ending will differ. Exclusive to this mode are boss fights and extra challenges, which range from hilariously easy to insanely hard. Some of the extra challenges are almost impossible to perform, but it's a good thing you don't have to complete all of them to proceed.

In Battle Mode, you and up to 3 of your friends can compete in the mini-games you've unlocked (a lot of them is already unlocked from the start). It's everyone for themselves, unless you choose to play with teams of 2. CPU-controlled characters will fill the empty spaces so that the competing players are always 4.

Mini-game genres:
BALLISTIX- A Pong-like game, but with 4 players.
CRATE CRUSH- The players pick up crates and throw them to their opponents. They can also jump and attack them normally.
POLAR PUSH- Ride in a polar bear, and push your opponents off of the icy field.
POGO PANDEMONIUM- Jump around and touch the floor tiles to convert them into your color. Usually the colored tiles are converted by breaking a purple "!" box.
TANK WARS- Shoot your opponents with your tank, and try to dodge the enemy fire.
CRASH DASH- Race through a small circular arena, and push your opponents off of it.
MEDIEVAL MAYHEM- All games in this category are completely different from each other, including balloon popping, target shooting (whilst riding a dragon), mushroom mashing and keg exploding.

Game Modes:
ADVENTURE- The main story, and where you unlock all the locked mini-games (1-2 players).
BATTLE- Play in any of the unlocked mini-games as you wish (1-4 players).
TOURNAMENT- Play all 4 mini-games of any main type in a row. The winner is the one with most victories (1-4 players).
