Surprise Crate

These usually contain lots of fruit inside, but can also contain other items, such as extra lives.

In Crash 1, some of these crates contain bonus mugs, pertaining to Tawna, Brio and Cortex.

In CTR and Crash Nitro Kart, they always contain weapons.

There are purple versions of these in Crash Bash. They usually contain pick ups and special items, depending on the mini-game they're in.

They're called "?" Boxes up to Crash 3. In CTR, they have the simple name of "Crates". In The Wrath of Cortex, they're called Surprise Boxes, and Surprise Crates in Twinsanity.

In Crash of the Titans for the DS, there are normal and giant versions of these, and those bigger ones can only be broken by enemies. The GBA version has grayish versions of these Crates, which after hit, quickly toggle between various icons and give you whatever it's displayed in last place: Mojo, Wumpa Fruit, a Gem, a Crystal, an enemy robot, a Doom Monkey, a crab, or a rat (these last two don't do anything).
