A
crabby green alien from planet Gasmoxia, Nitros Oxide loves to race.
He is the self-titled "fastest racer of the galaxy". His bad
temper and sore losing make him an unwanted creature to have around,
especially when he comes up with plans for ruining Earth.
When he
first introduced himself to Earth's inhabitants, he started a little game
he calls "survival of the fastest". His plan was to win the
local championship kart races, with the condition that if one of Earth's
drivers won, he'd leave Earth alone. However, if he won, he'd turn Earth into a giant concrete parking lot, and turn its habitants
into his slaves. Fortunately, this wasn't the case.
Nitros Oxide came
back for more, after still being bitter from losing before. He doesn't put
up such a threat as before, but is still a very dangerous foe. As a
side-note, he usually moves around with a green hover-mobile of his own.

cutscene model, with a very high detail and fully expressive face. |

A
less detailed model is used for when he's shown in the podium (after he
loses). His face is always still, but there was no need to animate it for
such a small appearance, especially considering he's frantically jumping
and turning around. |

This
is the model used in races. As with all other in-race models, this one is
a much more polygonal version, in order to keep the races smooth with no slowdowns.
It's interesting to note that while Oxide only appears on one-on-one
races, his model is simple enough to allow him on-screen with 7
other characters, leaving one to wonder if he was intended to be
unlockable at some point. |

This model resembles the Naughty Dog one, but with less detail and a
still face. The upper stripe on his nose doesn't go all the way around to
his ears. |

Vicarious Visions' Oxide is a little different. His head is much narrower
and thinner, with a single pipe instead of the usual two. His eyes have more distance between them. He
sometimes wears a top hat and a cane, in a bizarre change ala Ripper Roo. Note:

Twinsanity
This model seems based on the one from CTR. The head is wider again,
and he has a lot more detail to him. Instead of a yellow stripe extending
from from his ears and passing through the nose, he has an articulated
nose, almost elephant-like.
This model has 5 fingers, as all the ones from Twinsanity. |
