Crunch Bandicoot
Kuranchi Bandikū (クランチ バンディクー)
Classification: Bandicoot (Peramelemorphia
order)
Gender: Male
Kind: Good
Crunch
is a super-strong bandicoot. He was genetically modified by Dr. Neo Cortex
for the sole purpose of destroying Crash
Bandicoot, and he was intended to become what Crash failed to be- a real
bandicoot warrior who would obey Dr. Cortex, and probably the general in
his mutant army. However, thanks to the
efforts of Crash and his friends, Crunch got free of Dr. Cortex's mind
control and joined the good side.
Crunch's
"tough guy" attitude is easily noticeable.
He frequently threatens and insults people around, and can also be a bit
bossy sometimes. Overall, his is a short temper.
In order to maintain his powerful physique,
Crunch exercises all the time (he is actually a bit obsessed with it). Due
to unknown reasons, his right arm has long been replaced by a
robotic one.
Though he shares the same surname with
Crash and Coco, he is not from the same family. Still, he's kind of like
an adoptive brother.
Trivia: Starting with Crash Tag Team
Racing, Crunch became a parody of Mr. T,
a real-life actor. The way he speaks and most of his expressions are
directly based on or taken off Mr. T, as well as the character he played
in the television show called The A-Team, BA Barracus. Because of
Mr. T's many public service announcements, Crunch randomly gives people
advice. In CrashTTR, Crunch's
unlockable skin is called Mr. Crunch, which makes him look just like Mr. T.

Note: The Twinsanity model is placed after The Wrath of Cortex model,
since it was based on that one.

The original Crunch model. Most of Crunch's face doesn't animate, so he
never changes his facial expression or even blinks. |

Crash
Twinsanity
This model is actually very similar to the one used in WoC, but it's
gotten much smaller in its cameo appearance. The shoes are flatter and
don't have the spiky ends on them. Crunch has a goatee of the same colour
of his fur. The ridge of fur in his back isn't present.
Like all the Twinsanity models, he has 5 fingers now. |

The Vicarious Visions model used for CNK and Fusion. His
ears are much smaller; the eyebrows are big and different; eyes are blue
instead of green now; there's a brown
goatee; his fur has changed from magenta to a dark reddish brown; the left
hand lost the cream-coloured fur on the palm; his trousers are of a
different colouring; the belt was changed; he has really big boots. |

Graphically, Crunch resembles Vicarious
Visions' model, with a few changes: his fur is browner; the ears are
even shorter; he has a metal ear; the pupils are smaller; the cream-coloured
fur doesn't connect from his front to his mouth, nor from his mouth to his
nose; his abs are bigger on the lower part; he has a different belt again;
the boots aren't as big, and got browner.
Crunch has become the bandicoot
incarnation of Mr. T, complete with all of his famous lines, expressions
and BA Barracus references. |

of the Titans

(Note: this picture was slightly edited to match the game model's
appearance.)
Crunch has reverted back to his magenta colour in a taller and
slimmer body. The shape of his head is similar to the previous
model's, although it's smaller and his hair appears fluffier. The
cream-coloured fur from his front connect to his nose once again, and
he also has it around the eyes and inside the ears now. While on
that subject, the eyes are smaller and his left ear has reverted
back to being normal, instead of metallic. Not visible in this
picture are the new fangs, like Crash's. His gums show sometimes. His muscles aren't as
exaggerated anymore and his abs are flat. The most noticeable change
comes in the form of his right arm, which is no longer simply
metallic- it's become cybernetic. Both of his hands are much smaller
and proportionate, and he has a metal bracelet on his left one. He
also has claws. Crunch appears to have retained a few scars on his
torso. His pants are basically the same, but his boots are different
and considerably taller.
Crunch isn't as friendly as in the previous game, instead showing
a more "in-your-face" attitude. He acts a bit less
like Mr. T, with more of a personality of his own.

Crash:
Boom, Bang!
Voiced by: Shinya Fukumatsu
CBB was the first Crash game to be developed by a Japanese team. This gave
the characters the looks they've always had in Japanese artwork and
promotions.
The main difference between the Japanese and the original Crunch is a
lighter fur. Like all CBB models, it is cel-shaded, giving it cartoony
visuals. |
